A Small Bathroom: Why Not?

January 2nd, 2010

If you think only large spacious bathrooms have the right to be comfortable, now is the time to change your views. Living in an apartment or a flat makes it nearly impossible to expect to have a large bathroom of ample space for each and every little object that can be thought of. Moreover the pictures of bathrooms you might see on magazines never resemble your small set up. But there is hope to be perfectly at comfort in a small bathroom like the one you may have.   Better To Have Less, But Better Planning is of a vital issue. Positioning of everything starting from sanitary equipment, lifting pipes and hot and cold water pipes must be planned cleverly. The most important point to think about is space management. Positioning the lavatory to hide the discharge tank is often a preferred method for example. It improves the appearance and saves space. Pipes can be concealed under the sink or behind the shower cabin for the same advantages. Pipelines can be concealed within the adjacent walls. This prevents an unpleasant sight of sanitary pipes in your bathroom, and gives it a bigger dimension. Today various modular setups are available that not only give it a better appearance, but also require less space than conventional setups. It also has the advantage of easy installation.   Such a modular setup can have the sink attached with a number of shelves or a cabinet, which saves a considerable amount of space.   Division In to Separate Sections The area of your bathroom can be separated functionally. A separate section may be allocated for the sink and wash stand while another section for the bath and shower. Arranging the washing machine in a different section with a separate area again for the lavatory all add up to looks of the bathroom making it more modular and tidy. All this adds to the comfort in a small bathroom.   Color By deciding on the color of the bathroom, you can change the appearance of it considerably. Color can give your small bathroom a larger look. This mainly depends on the colors of the flooring and the walls. Light shades visually increase the area of the bathroom. Transparent materials also add to this effect. With proper lighting, mirrors and color, their effect can considerably increase the size of the bathroom in ones eye. Tiles should have mat surfaces, and should not be of a large pattern.   Light plays an important role too. Paired up with mirrors, they seem to widen the bathroom size considerably. Proper intensity and brightness must be chosen to produce the perfect effect desired. Mirrors can be fitted at a multiple number of places. Not restricting itself to the wall, it may be fitted behind the door to add to the visual widening of the area. Mirrors are very necessary and they can be used for adding to the comfort in a small bathroom quite effectively.   Keeping such small things on mind, your bathroom can be given a new character. Such steps will not only help you accommodate more in your bathroom, but also add to the comfort in a small bathroom in your apartment. Small bathroom space obliges you to think over the design to the smallest details, in order to turn the bathroom into functional room. © Copyright 2009 London bathroom fitters

Interiors Of Your Bathroom Gives Your Home A Character

December 14th, 2009

How much important is a bathroom in your home? Apart from the various calls of nature, a bathroom may provide a space for relaxation and rest if considered and planned properly. So here we look at how you can enhance your bathroom depending on the budget and several other factors.   Size And Colour The interiors of your bathroom should be planned according to its size. You might suffer adverse effects if your bathroom is a small one with too much work done in it. Even a large bathroom may look odd if the interiors are not planned accordingly.   There are several options when you want to select the colour. Some people prefer to use a colour that match with the general atmosphere of the rest of the house or apartment. Others believe that shades of beige, light blue and pink are the most suitable for a bathroom. However it entirely depends on you and your choice. You may even colour your bathroom to add a medieval theme or carnivals feel to the interiors of your bathroom!   Bath And Shower Depending on the size of your bathroom, you may install a bath that suits your bathroom the best. You may make your choice from a range of available options in the market, e. g. full length baths, corner baths, hydro massage baths, etc. Choice of the bath colour is also important. You may blend it with the bathroom’s colour, or make it stand out with a distinct shade. Also, depending on the size of your bathroom, you may add a separate shower cubicle for a quick shower and leave the bath for that relaxing long dip!   Bathroom Furniture Either with the help of a designer, or using your own design, make maximum use of the bathroom space, without stuffing it up, when adding furniture. Shelves and cabinets form that integral part of the interiors of your bathroom that add elegance. You may go for a modular set up. It costs a bit more, but saves space and adds to the looks. Selection of the proper colour for the furniture is again something to be carefully looked into. Its material can range from marble to plastic, depending on the look and feel you want for your bathroom.   Lights And Mirrors Lights and mirrors influence the looks of the bathroom greatly. Lights illuminate and make the bathroom and its style visible. It magnifies the feel of the bathroom. Preferable lights should be just bright enough to help you see yourself properly and clearly in the mirrors. They should not be too glaring. Also, it is a good idea to ensure the mirrors have waterproof spot lights over them. The use of two mirrors is advisable, where one is used for shaving and make up and the other for letting you see yourself clearly from all sides. Lights and mirrors form an important part of the interiors of your bathroom.   Adding other small accessories and items of use that add to the ambience of your bathroom is also a good idea, as long as it doesn’t use up all your bathroom space. Keeping all these factors in mind, you can definitely plan the interiors of your bathroom to make it look and feel special and let yourself enjoy your time in it.
