London Builders: Wall Mounted Bathroom Equipment. Part One

December 25th, 2009

Not only ceiling can be suspended, and not only one of the seven wonders of the world such as hanging gardens of Babylon. At the beginning of 80′s history of development of the bathroom equipment was marked by an appearance of suspended, or wall hung, equipment, with closet basins as pioneers. “Suspended miracle” became an alternative to floor-standing bathroom equipment. Don’t think that this innovation emerged as a result of designers’ embellishment and oddity. This fashion was formed under the influence of concrete and totally prosaic needs of hygiene, comfort and economy.

The first examples of the type appeared in public water closets, where hygienic demands were extremely strict. In ten years, in 90′s wall hung bathroom suits such as closet basins, urinals, bidets, washbasins successfully moved to private bathroom units and increased number in bathroom upgrades including bathroom furniture and bathroom accessories and new bathroom suites. Buying a new house or remodeling your existing one, the bathroom is the place to start with since the bathroom is the most frequent room to use by every member of your family. But before starting your bathroom renovation adventure it is important to consider your bathroom units in terms of usability and place not mentioning the design. If you want to break away from traditional bathroom styles and add a fresh look of elegance to your new bathroom have a look at wall mounted bathroom units models.

Every housewife knows that the most hard-to-reach and difficult-to-clean places are the areas around and under the bathroom equipment. Wall mounted bathroom units allow to clean up the area more quickly and effectively.

Bathroom design becomes, owing to the wall hung equipment, more exquisite, refined and airy. You must have managed to look through the illustrations. Such bathrooms look quite unusual, they are distinguished by some airiness and lightness, “hovering” effect. Owing to lack of equipment on the floor, the place looks more spacious. The tile is distinguished, its pattern is clearly visible on the floor and the walls. You will not see any connections, corrodible pipes or lock valves. They are hidden behind the tile, at the same time forming additional useful bathroom space. Sink drainage siphon is covered by a half-column or a half-pedestal, concealing piping and water drain. In case siphon is uncovered, it does not look like itself, but becomes a “modern technologies alloy” created by designers. Light and refined, it is in fact a continuation of the sink. That is the example of totally coordinated design. Known manufacturers usually offer ready-made models within the collection: the sink is offered together with a siphon and a mixer tap.

In the offered collections it is often possible to observe wall hung closet basin model with a built-in flash tank and a model with an external tank. Flash tanks usually have two regimes of water drain. On pressing one button half tank volume is spent – 3 liters, thus saving large quantity of the consumed water. On pressing the other button the full tank volume is spent – 6 or 9 liters.

London Builders: Bathroom Changes for the Better

December 24th, 2009

Tendencies for minimalism and antiquity penetrate even into bathroom and toilet rooms.

The “antique” furniture.

Ecologically clean materials slowly, but really pick their way to the bathroom. If it is the furniture, it must be wooden and covered by moisture-proof lacquer. And if it is made from wood, it must look noble or “antique”. The cost of the matter: as a rule, such bathroom furniture is manufactured according to the individual order and is very expensive.

In the shower as if in a sauna.

If you selected the shower cabin, the fashionable shower is the shower with hydro-massage or the steam effect. Not cheap. But it is healthy, as in such shower cabins one can have acupuncture, spinal and leg massage by streams of water. As well as aroma and ozone therapy. The timers will control your stay there.

Stone bathtub – warm and inviting.

If you miss the cast-iron warm bath of your childhood, but want to have modern stylish new bathtub, order a bath from the artificial stone (polymeric resin, in which crushed stone (granite or noble onyx) is added).

A stone bathtub is lighter than the cast-iron one, can have any desired form, keeps the temperature well, needs no coverage (after casting the product is simply polished). It is robust and only a little less harder than the natural stone. The bathtubs are resistant to the household chemistry (one can wipe them even by acetone and nothing will happen).

Comfortable mini sinks.

The less space the sink occupies in the bathroom, the more timely and modern it is. Due to various forms it perfectly fits into corners and niches. Designers developed another innovation – on wide boards of the “mini sink” one can place a lot of jars and bottles.

Smart taps.

Touch-sensitive or thermostatic mixer taps will look ideal in a modern bathroom. But pay attention that in fashion now are smooth and rounded shapes. Touch-sensitive mixer taps are equipped with an infra-red device. The sensors switch on the water, when you put your hands close to the tap. Thermostatic mixer taps have two handles, one of which regulates the head of water, and the other has a scale, with the help of which you can set the required temperature. If the temperature of the incoming water changes, the water will flow slower from the tap, but the temperature, compensated by the sensor, will remain unchanged. If this or that flow of water is suddenly cut off, water will simply stop coming into the tap.

Lighting of the bathroom should be as intensive as possible and light in the proper way the individual standing in front of the mirror. Bathroom spot lighting will suit perfectly, if it is installed on both sides of the mirror or above it. The diffusers from clouded glass will have an auspicious effect on your health, saving your eyes from blinding light. Bathroom water prove spot lights are completely safe to use in your new stylish bathroom.

A flower greenhouse in the bathroom.

Various designs a bathroom plants make the bathroom a place for relaxation. But house plants are for some reasons rarely placed in bathrooms, despite the fact that these premises are in a dire need of softening the firm walls by the gentle verdure of plants. In fact, with the help of verdure you can make your bathroom a truly luxurious place. There are many variations of the bathroom design: from luxuriant verdure to several emphasized green spots.

A big window in the bathroom is the ideal chance for planting greenery. In the warm and moist climate of the bathroom it is best to keep plants, which came to us from tropical countries. A small bathroom window somewhat limits the choice of plants, but in this case more suitable for the bathroom will be more endurable plants. If there is no window in the bathroom, don’t be discouraged. There are ways to keep plants even in this case: you can buy special lamps for flowers, they are like small daylight lamps, but have a different radiated spectrum. If you illuminate the plants with this lamp in the bathroom without a window, the plants will feel comfortable.

In a big bathroom with a good window you can create something like a jungle or in extreme case, a small bathroom garden. Luxurious ferns, huge leaves of philodendrons, motley aglaonema will change your bathroom design so much that you will hardly recognize it. Sprawling arecas and chamaedoreas will help to soften the cold glitter of the tiles.

The role of bathroom in the modern house does not only yield to the utilitarian purpose. It is especially pleasant to take a bath, coddling in sweet-scented foam, when around you there is not only warm water, but also the bathroom atmosphere that helps to relax.

London Builders: New Bathroom Installation Tips

December 23rd, 2009

Having decided to make a complete new bathroom installation you may forget about annoying rusty bath, boring faded interior, cracked floor and wall tiles. It means to leave out always leaking mixer taps, painful rusty stains caused by defective sanitaryware, which made you tired a lot. It means to forget about inconvenient bathroom shelves, which occupy the better part of the space but have no practical use. New life begins full of facility, comfort and appeasement! Down with nightmare, inconvenience and constant irritation!

Bathroom is one of the most important rooms in a flat. Only in this room you may really feel easy and natural, create atmosphere of comfort and warmth, and above all, only there you can really stay alone with your thoughts, apprehensions, joys. Only there reunited with your subconsciousness you may lose yourself into your secret dreams and give yourself up to pacification.

Everything around should be pleasant to your eyes and bring the sense of satisfaction in order to reach the sense of maximum comfort and to enjoy hydrotherapeutic procedures. Therefore, when you have decided to make a bathroom renovation you should think over everything up to the smallest details, think over purpose and functionality of every component, select matching light, chord of the bathroom tiles colour, decorate it with various accessories designed exactly for these purposes.

So, you decide to make your bathroom arrangement seriously, what shall we start with? For a start, it is necessary to measure the total area of the room, if the area of your bathroom is not that big try to locate there all the desired elements without bulky compositions. It is necessary to size up at what height desired hanging bathroom cabinets will be located not to hindering movement later on.

Then you need to decide what exactly you want to see in your bathroom: a shower cabin, having saved part of the active area meanwhile, or set a bathtub itself, which occupies a large space, but has its own pluses. In any case regardless of your choice of one or another option you need to know the properties of the bathroom accessories for sure in order not to be disappointed in the future.

Then you need to choose a suitable bathroom sink, there are plenty of them, also, there are also mini and corner sinks, which are perfectly suitable for small rooms. If you decided not to use wall hung bathroom units, you may install nice cabinet under your washbasin, which will create a proper decorative appearance and would give you an additional spare space for bathroom accessories. Above the bathroom sink you may install mirrors. It is necessary to mention that more mirrors you have in your renovated bathroom the wider and larger looks the room. Above the mirror, or next to it is advisable to install spot lights or lamps, which will light well every corner our lovely smiles in front of it.

If your bathroom allows it is necessary to install a towel heater. There is a binary benefit of it: absence of dampness in your new bathroom will prevent fungus and towels will be constantly dry.

In order to save space and embellish the external view of the bathroom you may use wall hung bathroom units. Big plus of this sanitaryware is the complete absence of any pipes, mixers, tanks because everything is hidden inside the bathroom walls and concealed there from curious eyes until the necessary moment.

Buying a new bathtub you may choose it with a spa unit in it which will make your everyday life more joyful and comfortable.

There is nothing but to thoroughly think over a purchase of necessary bathroom accessories to blend them correctly and harmoniously with the interior you create.

And it is also important to say about the selection of color palette for a bathroom. If a room is small, try to avoid dark shades, which will only conceal extra, far too small area. Therefore, it is better to use light and soft tones. And your bathroom will make you happy day after day.
